Art Basel Miami Beach 2026
The Western Hemisphere's premier art fair — and Miami's hottest week
Mainstream EventAbout This Event
The Western Hemisphere's premier contemporary art fair draws 80,000+ visitors. For LGBTQ+ travelers, Art Basel week is a convergence of world-class art, designer parties, and Miami's legendary gay nightlife. Wynwood and Design District host gallery openings while South Beach clubs run special Art Week events.
Art Basel Miami Beach runs December 4–6 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, but the real action spans the full week (Dec 1–7). Satellite fairs like Untitled Art Fair (on the sand at Collins Ave), NADA, and Scope expand the programming across the city. The gay bars of South Beach — Palace, Twist, Score — host Art Week-themed events and stay packed until dawn. Celebrity sightings, private collectors' parties, and brand activations fill the week. Miami's LGBTQ+ community has long been central to the art world that makes Basel special.
Gay Nightlife & Venues
Art Basel week supercharges Miami's already legendary nightlife. Palace Bar on Ocean Drive hosts outdoor celebrations. Twist on Washington Ave runs Art Week specials. Score, Lips, and Score Rooftop fill with a mix of art crowd and regulars. Club Space and LIV host massive Art Week parties.
Getting There
Fly into MIA (Miami International Airport) — 20 minutes to South Beach via taxi/rideshare. The Miami Beach Trolley runs free routes on the Beach and connects to the Convention Center. Brightline connects Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton to downtown Miami, then a quick rideshare to the Beach.
Where to Stay
South Beach is ideal — walkable to the Convention Center, close to the gay nightlife strip, and beachfront. Hotels book out 6+ months ahead for Art Basel week; the Betsy, The Tides, and various boutique properties along Collins Ave are popular. Wynwood short-term rentals work well for those focused on the satellite fairs.
